Cabin luggage is worth comparing carefully because the wrong bag creates problems at exactly the worst moment: at check-in, boarding, or while moving between transport connections.

Start with airline size rules

Before comparing brands, check the cabin bag size rules for the airlines you use most. A bag that is perfect for one carrier may be too large for another. If you often fly budget airlines, a smaller under-seat bag can be more useful than a large hard-shell case.

Weight matters too. A heavy empty case leaves less allowance for clothes, shoes, toiletries, and electronics.

Soft shell or hard shell?

Soft-shell luggage is often easier to squeeze into tight spaces and may include useful external pockets. Hard-shell luggage can protect contents better and is easier to wipe clean. Neither is automatically better; the right choice depends on how you travel.

If you mainly take short city trips, easy manoeuvring and low weight matter most. If you carry fragile items, weather resistance and shell strength become more important.
